ODU School of Nursing is proud of its consistently high pass rates on licensing and certification exams for our graduates. The school is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing. Our success can be credited to a faculty committed to delivering high-quality nursing education using innovative teaching methods, distance learning technologies for selected course delivery, and support from grant awards.
TAO brings the healing power of the arts to older adults and those prone to isolating circumstances. TAO’s outreach programs are typically one hour in length, consisting of interactive music programs, participatory spoken word/poetry and songwriting workshops, hands-on visual arts projects, and interactive performing arts presentations. Artists are recruited, trained, and compensated by TAO.
Norfolk Botanical Garden includes 175 acres, with more than 60 themed gardens that can be viewed by tram, boat, or by foot. More than twenty thousand children and adults are reached every year at the Garden by programs, classes, and Norfolk Botanical Garden lectures. Volunteers provide more than seventeen thousand hours each year working in all aspects of the Gardens operations.
The Virginia Symphony is at the center of the Hampton Roads arts community, and in many ways serves as the cultural cornerstone for the region. Each year, the orchestra presents a series of Classics, Pops and Family concerts in Norfolk, Newport News, Williamsburg and Virginia Beach. In addition, our educational and outreach programs touch the lives of more than 100,000 students and adults per season through concerts, lectures and presentations, in-school-residences, master classes, open rehearsals, student performances, collaborations with other organizations and an array of community engagement programs.
Founded in 1972, Chesapeake Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is funded by private donors – we do not receive government subsidies. The Society supports the homeless and underserved animals of Chesapeake. The Chesapeake Humane Society’s mission is to promote the welfare of companion animals through programs and initiatives that reduce pet overpopulation, increase adoptions, and encourage responsible pet guardianship through affordable pet care.
Established in 2022 to help address healthcare issues that impact underserved populations in the Hampton Roads area, ODU Community Care is a nurse-led, cross-disciplinary program where faculty, students in all disciplines, and community professionals engage in clinical practice to meeting the needs of vulnerable community members, including homeless individuals, the elderly, veterans, woman, children, and those with mental health concerns. Currently operating out of donated space in the People in Need (PiN) Ministry facility located in Virginia Beach and its new mobile clinic, the program uses telehealth, pop-up clinics, and mobile services to provide comprehensive patient care.

Since 1981, the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore, a member of Feeding America™ and the Federation of Virginia Food Banks, has been providing food for people experiencing food insecurity throughout Southeastern Virginia and on the Eastern Shore.
